Tension Releasing Exercises, known as TRE®, is based on the fundamental idea, backed by research, that stress, tension and trauma is both physical and psychological.
A TRE® session lasts an hour, it takes you through a series of 7 movements or exercises that are designed to relax your psoas muscle. TRE’s reflexive muscle vibrations generally feel pleasant and soothing.
That a physical release can encourage the body to let go of the mental stress.
After doing the exercises, many people report feelings of peace, well-being, and relaxed joint or muscle pain. TRE has helped many thousands of people globally.
Who can benefit from TRE?
You! Since this shaking mechanism in muscles is part of our natural behavior as humans, everyone can benefit from TRE. This shaking of the muscles increase the resiliency of the body because it causes deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress level. It can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses or traumas from accidents.
Who created TRE?
Dr. David Berceli, Ph.D. is the creator of TRE and international expert in the areas of trauma intervention and conflict resolution.
“Because the reaction of the human body during trauma alters the tone of our skeletal muscles and their ability to function, it these changes in our muscles go unreleased, they will develop into patterns of chronic tension that will eventually create additional bodily dysfunctions. Unless they are returned to a relaxed state after the stressful event is over, they are particularly vulnerable to continued stimulation, causing us to react to even minor stress with anxiety. It is vital to be able to turn off this muscular response to stress. - Dr. David Berceli
“If trauma can occur to every human being than a healing process must be available to everyone too. ”
Testimonial of TRE
-
I slept really well after my first TRE session. I found shaking was hugely beneficial in terms of releasing all the tension and tight muscles in my pelvis. It was also an effective way to de-stress myself! I’d definitely recommend TRE to my family and friends.

I liked how we got to share our feelings and how we react to things, and talk about better ways to express those feelings. For example when you’re mad you might scream or shout but a better way to do that could be to talk about what you don’t like. I also liked learning about what can help you to keep calm.
